bachelor’s cove: Brooklyn, NY

This pre-war building apartment had beautiful bones to work with. The designers emphasized the original architectural features, highlighting the client’s transitional style while incorporating Industrial, Scandinavian + Mid-Century Modern silhouettes.

The objective was to create a visually interesting, laid back vibe while maintaining sustainability. A 3D gallery wall was created via prints from Etsy placed in hand-painted frames using textured paint to match the artwork’s background. These frames were then placed on a matted frame to extend the scale of the art, a solution created when the prints arrived in the wrong size. The furniture pictured was thrifted from Facebook Marketplace. The table was sanded and coated with a non-toxic poly sealant spiked with iridescent powder to reflect under the light. A black stripe was added to increase visual interest. The gesso wall finish infuses warmth while adding the appearance of texture. Bright white trim adds contrast.
